Where to stay
Abraj Al Bait (Clock Tower)
Directly opposite the King Abdulaziz Gate, with hotels, food courts and prayer areas in the complex itself. The shortest walk, and the highest prices.
Ajyad and Ibrahim Al Khalil Road
South and southwest of the Haram, a 3–10 minute walk. Many mid-range hotels and restaurants.
Jabal Omar
Newer towers to the west, 5–10 minutes on foot, with direct pedestrian routes to the Haram.
Aziziyah and further out
Several kilometres away and much cheaper; hotels usually run shuttle buses. Close to Mina for Hajj.
Getting there
Most flights from Europe land in Jeddah. The Haramain high-speed railway runs from the station at King Abdulaziz Airport to Makkah; from Makkah station take a taxi or bus to your hotel. A taxi from the airport takes about 1–1½ hours depending on traffic.
Good to know
- Around Fajr, Jumu'ah and in Ramadan the courtyards fill early — a hotel within 500 m makes a real difference then.
- Distances here are straight lines; the walk through the gates and courtyards is longer.
- Only Muslims may enter Makkah.
Questions
How close to the Haram should I stay?
Within about 500 m you can walk to every prayer, even with children or older parents. Up to 1.5 km is still walkable for most people. Further out, choose a hotel with a shuttle.
Do hotels in Makkah serve alcohol?
No. Alcohol is not served in hotels in Saudi Arabia, so every hotel on this page is alcohol-free.
Does Hasanattrip sell Umrah packages?
No. You book your hotel (and, separately, your flight) with us. Umrah permits and visas are arranged through the official Saudi channels such as Nusuk.
